Function: Absolute 14C dating of plant macrofossils, charred grains, wood, charcoal, bones, burnt bones, molluscs, foraminifera, sediments etc. (in close collaboration with Uppsala Tandem Laboratory). Close collaboration with the Laboratory for Wood Anatomy and Dendrochronology regarding sampling strategies and pre-treatment methods. Continuous development of calibration and chronologies. User support for project design, sampling and interpretation of results including 14C calibration, and assessment of sample and result quality.
Equipment:
- Sample preparation laboratory with modern automated equipment for graphitization (AGE-3).
- 14C measurements performed with accelerator mass spectrometers available in the laboratory (SSAMS) and at Uppsala Tandem Laboratory (MICADAS).
